Meet Lilly

Image
She's a Siamese mix, about a year old, spayed, and house broken. I'm adopting her from an animal rescue ranch tomorrow! I took Jewell over to meet her to make sure they get along... all was good! Afterwards, I went to Petsmart and spent $135 on a scratching post, litter box, carrier, etc... and almost everything is pink. So... I'm thinking she's going to be known as Princess Lilly. haha I was sitting in the dark last night watching tv and realized how lonely I get in this big old house. Lilly will be the perfect companion to snuggle up with on chilly nights. :)

I'm a lucky girl...

I have a new friend named Michelle. Her mom passed away last year and left her a lot of antique furnitrue. Also, she got married in the past year, which means two combined households. She and her husband have an abundance of furniture. They were buying a house, but the deal fell through... so they are renting an apartment across the street from me. A small apartment. I told Michelle that I had been looking for a antique dining room set, but that everything was beyond my budget. She sent me an email a few weeks ago, with these photos attached. She said her husbands grandparents bought the set in the 1940's. They are paying $80 a month for storage unit. Her husband wants the set to go to someone who will cherish it and keep it forever. So... I am getting this gorgeous dining room set for $500!! I really hope I have it before Thanksgiving, as I can see my family gathered around this beautiful table! Regardless, I'll be patient and wait for them to dig it out from the back of the s...

First, I have to show off these fabulous bookends that I purchased at Marshalls ~ $10 for the set... I love them and can't wait to put some of my old antique books in between them. I still can't believe I found all of these pillows for $4.99 - $5.99 at Factory 2-U I love my fireplace As you can see, there has been NO painting done since Jewells room. I decided it's more important to get things put away, in order to make it feel like home. The first room I'm going to tackle, is the dining room... but after the holidays.

Hi all

It's been awhile! I am still 'borrowing' the library wireless Internet ... which isn't a very strong signal. I haven't done any actual 'work' on the house other than putting things away and organizing. Due to a migraine that last 7 days, I did not do anything during that time frame. It finally went away on Friday, so I spent about 5 hours putting together my craft room. Yesterday I work up and hung pictures and art on the walls. That itself is a very time consuming project since most of the walls are made of cement. I broke 3 drill bits yesterday, so I definitely need to invest in the tougher ones. My tool collection is becoming rather large. I am thinking I need a saw next, and maybe a hedge trimmer. Will post photos later... my daughter and the baby are here, and the munchkin is a walking tornado. Which means it's very cluttered right now.

Comments....

Hmmm, I wasn't aware the comment section wasn't working until my friend Jodi informed me... looks like I have to change my settings to 'full page' instead of 'comments under post'. Hope everyone is still able to leave me comments!

Halloween

Image
My daughter and I took Jewell to a Pumpkin Patch for the 1st time. It was so cute watching her try to pick them up. She kept calling them 'balls'. Later on, I dropped them off at the church down the road. I think 50% of the children in my town go there on Halloween. They have games, give out candy & drinks, have bounce houses, etc. Jewell had a really fun time. I stayed home to pass out candy, but only had two kids come to the door! (Which means there is a lot of evil chocolate in the house today). at the Pumpkin Patch
