Painted dressers...

Image
I know this post will make men cringe, but since I'm single and have been forever , I seen no reason not to paint my dressers PINK. :) I've had this dresser in my room for at least 5 years... not only were the handles all over the place, but it had been drawn on with a marker. I found this awesome dresser set at a yard sale last month for $40! I removed all the hardware and sanded them all down, even inside the drawers. I painted all the dressers a light pink, sanded the edges and antiqued it with the same green paint on my bedroom walls. I picked up some cute rose knobs at Orchard Supply. I am really happy with this set, as I can't stand gold trim. I found some cute crystal knobs at Hobby Lobby. Every drawer was lined with rose scented drawer liner. :) This also explains why it has taken 4 weekends to paint my room... these were at the least a 2 day job.

Floor vent repair

Image
My floor vent is in the dining room, and my 1 year old grand-daughter was always getting a little too close for comfort. Since I don't have the money to replace it with another original, I repaired it. I found a piece of metal with scrolls at Hobby Lobby for about $10. Painted it and the floor grate with Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint in Metallic. Then used a steel glue to attach the scroll. I love the way it turned out!

Another bathroom project...

My bathroom tile no longer matched my Paris themed bathroom. So, I decided to paint it. It was a full day project as the first layer of expoxy paint has to dry for 3-4 hours before applying the 2nd layer. Luckily, my tiles were in 'sheets' so I didn't have to regrout anywhere but the bottom, where the tile meets tub. **Before** this stuff is awesome! I love my tile now!

Bathroom Redo

Last week was my birthday, so I had a 3 day weekend. I decided to start a project that I had been putting off for awhile. The bathroom was a light blue color that did not go with my Paris themed bathroom, at all. **Before** **During** Every item on the wall had been painted around, instead of being removed. The light switch, the fan cover, mirror, etc. I spackled all the holes... and primed the entire bathroom with Kilz. The bathroom vanity; primed and painted the top of the mirror even had blue paint after sanding after painting the mismatched hardware from the walls I found all of my bathroom metals at Hobby Lobby, but they were in many different shades of black. Problem solved with Rust-oleum spray paint. **After** Hobby Lobby had a 50% off sale on all metals; so I got everything for $100, instead of $200. I found the over the toilet shelf at Kmart on sale for $50. I love it, as it has glass shelves. I have intentions of stripping all the doors back to bare wood eventually, so I onl...

I'm back!

Image
It's been a long time! After spending several hours doing yard work today, I know there is a busy Spring ahead of me to get my winter yard looking decent again. I have bulbs starting to bloom, but I can't see beyond the gazillion clovers peeking out between every crevice. I got the entire yard mowed today. Tomorrow, I'll start on the weeds and also getting the gophers under control. We had a huge rain a few weeks ago and it caused all the gophers to create new tunnels and mounds. Most of them cover my once pretty walkway that I worked so hard on. :( I wish it still looked like this!

More landscaping!

Image
I rarely get more then $100 back for a State refund, but this year I received $530. I decided to use it for my landscaping budget. This is $775 later... granted, I did purchase a $230 rototiller that will (hopefully) give many years of use! My wonderful friend, Aurora, rode 6 hours on a train just to help me dig in the dirt. I'm so grateful for her help, as I would not have finished it in one weekend without her! My yard is HUGE and unfortunately is filled with crabgrass & foxtails. They are the devil. I spread 2 entire bags of Weed & Feed, therefore, there are bald spots in my yard now. :( I hope to eventually get rid of most of the 'grass', and I use that word lightly. I love my little corner! I planted climbing ivy on this side of the little fence. My friend and I digging in the dirt! My grand-daughter is happy with the results!
