Vintage House Plans

Below: a house from this site
I've been searching the Internet for the style of my 101 year old house... with no luck so far. I have learned that most houses in the early 1900's were purchased from the Sears Home Catalog. Houses were actually complete kits, which included everything; right down to the nails. I had pretty much come to the conclusion that my house wasn't from a kit. It's not like any other floor plan I've found.
However, I just found the 2nd photo above. It's from this site: and looks more like mine then any others I've found. It's unknown if that house is a Sears Home, but it is likely.
If anyone recognizes the style of my home, please let my know. I think it's a one-story brick veneer bungalow... but, I'm not positive.
Trying to help ID your house... it is perplexing to me as it's a bungalow with a Italianate styled windows, (or perhaps spanish), the hip roof, and bumped out windows, or bay windows. I think it's a year or two shy of possibly being a Sears home.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it had lattice or leaded windows at one time...
Are you sure it's vaneer brick? Looks so solid to me!
I'm very intrigued, I've never seen a house like it... being one story and all.
This is a flickr member who may be able to tell you. He's primarily into Victorian homes but he really knows his stuff... and if he doesn't you might want to join his group Vicarr and ask around there. A great group of folks.
