Goodbye relaxing weekends!
I'm sooo sorry bloggy friends, but life has been extremely hectic since I got off of work Friday. Since my oldest daughter wanted to help, but didn't have a babysitter until 7:30, we went and did some shopping.
First, we went to K-Mart so I could pick out my refrigerator and stove. The guy who helped us was extremely nice but not very good at his job. He had to start my order over 3 times as he kept forgetting to put in things as I told him. (Gas, not electric ~ Sunday delivery, not Monday, etc.) The stove is in black and White and a Frigidaire. The refrigerator is black Kenmore. I would have preferred both items to be Frigidaire, but no such luck.
They both came as requested! I love them!
I bought $253 worth of curtains. I have enough for the entire house. I bought Bellagio Grommet curtains and Saratoga Tab Top Curtains for only $5.99 a panel. These panels are about $20.00 apiece at Target or JCPenny. We are talking a lot of curtains. Just my living room alone has 5 windows (10 panels). The Sun room has 3 windows (6 panels). You get the picture. I still have to figure out what type of rods to buy for the living room as they are a little complicated.
Anyway, we also stopped at Target for other misc items. Dropped off the baby and started painting her room. We decided not to paint the ceiling, as they are extremely high. We got 2 walls done and called it a night at 11:30 pm.
The color 'before'
Then, we woke up bright and early to hit the Museum Yard Sale that is about 4 house down from my old house. I scored!
Then, baby came home so I dropped my daughter and grand-baby off at their house. I managed to move several loads to the new house. I want to keep track of how many loads, so hopefully you don't get bored with my daily progress. lol
Load 1: Jewell's belongings
Load 2: Jewell's belongings
Load 3: Jewell's belongings + kitchen items
Load 4: Kitchen items + my Wall Art
Load 5: Kitchen items
After awhile, when I didn't think I could not move another muscle, I went and picked up my daughter and the grand-baby again so she could help me put some stuff away. I hung up the curtains in the sun room. She cleaned both bathrooms. I lined all of the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen (I hate this job). Then we put the entire kitchen in it's place. It's odd living at two places at once... you don't know what to take or leave. lol
By this time it was 5:30. We went and grabbed dinner, and I dropped them off at home. I was too tired to even take a shower. I fell asleep on the couch at 7:30 pm. Climbed into my bed about midnight and woke up at 6:00 this morning totally energized!
It's now 8:30 pm and it's been a long day! My daughter and I moved over 4 loads today.
Load 6 through 9: scrapbook room
I also painted some more of Jewell's room. It's looking very bright in there with all of those Disney colors!
Time to take a shower and catch up on laundry.
I'm tired just reading this :-)
ReplyDeleteOrdinarily I use a brush to paint, because I'm a control freak, but I used a roller on a long handle to paint the highish ceilings in my old bungalow, and then did the edges with a brush. Was that quick. I was covered in speckles of paint, though, except where I'd covered my hair.
When we bought our house, I thought we might never enjoy another weekend again. The big stuff will get done eventually then you can slack off a little.
ReplyDeleteWarning - don't buy any more than you need right away. Once you live in the house for a while, you'll change your mind about what is right for it and what you'll want. I spent a lot of money on stuff I never used because I "had" to have it and then later decided it wasn't right for what we really wanted.
Why is exactly right! The mother changed her mind about paint TWICE before any actually hit a wall. Ended up giving the paint away a year later.
ReplyDeleteMOVE is a four-letter word for good reason, but hey, you're finally THERE! Enjoy it, girl. You've definitely earned it.
this sounds so much like us when we moved... only it rained the entire time and my truck only half fit under the car port! You are one step ahead of me we only have 2 rooms with curtains in them. Im holding out for the expensive wooden slat blinds. I hope you are enjoying your new home- despite all the moving which is my least fav. part. One of my fav.quotes is from under the tuscan sun-
ReplyDelete"The trick to overcoming buyer's remorse is to have a plan. Pick one room and make it yours. Go slowly through the house. Be polite, introduce yourself,so it can introduce itself
to you."
Karen Anne, I worked on her room quite a bit this weekend and I'm still not done. I have neck issues, so painting ceilings is very painful for me. :(
ReplyDeleteNV, I am enjoying ever minute of being in that house, even when I'm putting stuff away... it's MY house! So excited!
ReplyDeleteWhy S,
ReplyDeleteI hope I haven't gone overboard yet. I do have 'good intentions' so far. lol But, it is an exhausting job.
Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI am sooo glad the weather has been awesome. I have moved a few times in the rain and it's definitely no fun!
These curtains are only temporary. I'll start replacing one room at a time when the economy straightens up & I can have my overtime again. I'm a one income family, so expensive blinds have to wait awhile. lol
Go girl!! I love the colors in Jewell's room. We just finished painting our dining room.. (pics will be my blog tomorrow.) We have been in our house 12 years now and we are still doing and re-doing rooms... its never ending here!
ReplyDeleteJodi,
ReplyDeleteHer room is going to be so cute! I'm painting a castle, flowers, etc.
I can't wait to see pics of your house. Is it on the market yet?
Not yet. John is wanting to list it soon, but I am dragging my feet, as winter is right around the corner, and I need to put plastic on the windows to help with the drafts and heating bills. He says I can't... so we are in an argumentive kinda place right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm staggered by how much you've gotten done. I take forever, because I agonize over picking out anything.
ReplyDeleteoooh, i love the last picture. what a great space! so much potential!
