Worked on the lawn another 5 1/2 hours today. Every muscle in my body hurts. I'm not sure when, but I also may have sprained my RH wrist, cause it really hurts and it's swollen.
Maybe it's from shoveling and pulling up roots for hours on end?
I am having so much positive feedback from the neighborhood! Yesterday, 3 different people stopped their cars to tell me basically 'thank goodness someone is doing something with that yard!' I actually got thanked a few times. 2 more people stopped today to tell me how great it's looking1
Neighborhood eyesore? lol

I got the corner done... which is a major improvement. It was all dirt and weeds before today. Now the sidewalk edge can actually be seen! :) I want to go further down the sidewalk next weekend.

The front walkway is all lined with flowers. I managed to get two rose bushes planted, but got too tired to plant the other two. Next week!

There is a LOT more work to be done. This is behind my house... clovers are growing everywhere.

Need to repair the adjoining fence...

Near the garage... definitely needs some work!

The
LH side of the yard that has been neglected so far... weeds everywhere.

The side steps are delightful aren't they?
eww
I can't even explain this dead clump...

I want to get all this fixed up... thinking of maybe lining it with red bricks between the grass and the cement? The gophers are responsible for making the dirt proceed over the sidewalk.
That's a lot of work, but the kind of work I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that dead clump is a dormant shrub that's desirable?
I sow clover in my lawn on purpose. I like the flowers and it fixes nitrogen so the lawn needs less fertilizing. Years ago, lawn seed mixes used to come with clover in them on purpose.
D*mn, girl, that is really lookin’ good! And it’s great that your neighbors appreciate all of the hard work you are doing. People really DO pay attention when you’re fixing something up!
ReplyDeleteHang in there – but don’t push too hard. You can’t do ANY work if you’re seriously injured.
thats wonderful your neighbors are so pleased with all of the hard work your putting in! Yard work is sometimes not my favorite part of home keeping- but its always worth the work in the end! Everything looks great!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!! I can't wait to do my yard work... just have to wait until all this white stuff is gone!
ReplyDeleteWell done - it will be looking wonderful for spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, I'm really enjoying the yard work! It gives me something to look forward to on weekends. :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteYou HAVE been busy! I envy you though -- at least you are able to work on your yard and gardens. We had a few feet of snow this past weekend and it's snowing again through tomorrow night (another 18 inches predicted!) Your yard looks great. No wonder your neighbors are pleased. Keep blogging. I will keep reading!
