November 1st will be one year I've lived in my beautiful 102 year old house. I've done 'zero' house improvements; yup that's me, I'm a slacker.
So I decided to start a project that I've been wanting to do all year, but never got around to.
See this yellow dining room with maroon trim? It's gotta go. I just know there is a beautiful wood underneath all that glossy paint! These two photos are ones I took during my very 1st walk through.

For this challenge, I decided to go with 'Citristrip'. The price is a little hefty @ $21 a bottle, but there is a LOT of trim and a plate rail that goes around the entire room. That means a lot of nooks and crannies.

I slathered on Citristrip from the plate rail to the floor, minus a few of the rectangular pieces on the end. I'm going to see how easy it is to remove the paint with a heat gun, as it uses a LOT of Citristrip per rectangle.

They even painted the china cabinet with glossy paint.... this is going to look sooo nice when it's stripped!

A portion of the maroon painted picture rail goes around the room...

beautiful reddish brown wood underneath!

I would really love to strip the ceiling as well, but that's a whole other project. My ladder isn't even tall enough to reach the ceiling and it's 6' tall!
If you ever get around to stripping your ceiling, it might be worth it to buy one of the DIY scaffolding kits. It would probably be safer.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, I'm sure it would be MUCH safer then a ladder!
