Bedroom redo

The walls in my room weren't that bad of color, but the paint job itself was driving me a little crazy. I cannot stand paint drips or uneven lines (some people just don't believe in cutting in! Which shocks me, cause I will 'touch up' 5 times in order for the lines to be perfect by door frames, windows, etc.

The color before: a beigy brown. There were no redwood door frames, window frames or baseboards, so they got repainted instead of stripped.

I know I did things totally backwards... I pulled up the carpet first because my allergies could not take it any longer. My eyes were getting puffy and red every night.

Ewww, this carpet is at least from the 60's...
I was so extremely happy to find hardwood floor underneath... It's in pretty good shape except for where the floor meets the wall; there is white paint all over it.
I think pulling up the tack strips was more time consuming then pulling up the carpet!
(Note the drippy paint, when I see things like this, my occasional ocd tendacies kick in and I want to sand it, like right now)

Next was stripping/sanding down the window frames so that both windows could be open. They have been painted shut for who knows how many years... this was a 2 day job right here.
I hate stipping paint.
My extra long window seat got a sanding as well...

Just to break up the hard work, I had some fun. I have a cedar chest that was made in 1941. I've had it since I was 14 years old. In 2004, I took in my sisters 4 children for close to a year, and they DESTROYED it. Broke the back in half, peeled off some of the wood, broke the legs, etc. I sanded it all down, repaired the back of it, put new screws in the hinges and painted it turquoise.
I love it so much now!

I even drilled holes in the bottom and added new feet made out of large drawer knobs.
Quite a few things just didn't go well... these curtains for example. I bought 4 of these 'Country Living' curtains for $12 a panel at K-mart. All four packs said 66", but it's so obvious that 2 are a good 4" longer. I had already thrown out the packets, so for now they are just layered, 2 in front of 2 until I figure out what I am going to do... I bought some tie back and may just pull the top ones off to the side... but then it may be too see through.
I added turquoise to the room by painting both of my coat hook racks...

I'm not done with my window seat yet... the green paint that went on the top of the walls was much too thin in the 2nd gallon. Seriously, it was like water. (I bought it before I moved into the house, so no returning it!) So, I bought some really nice thick fabric and I'm going to sew an extra long window seat pillow.
Also, my new full size mattress set does not fit into my King size bed frame, so that needs to be replaced so I can make a cool head board.
I took 6 entire weekends to finish my room. What started out as 'yay, I'm getting a pretty room!' ended up being 'omg, when am I going to finish so I can stop sleeping on the couch?'
