Putting up a wood fence is way out of my budget right now, so I put up a temporary trellis type fence until my car is paid off.
I was lucky enough to find these truck pallets for $1 each last year!

I know better then to pass up this good a deal!

My grand-daughter 'helped' me paint on water repellent type stain. Isn't it cute how much she gets into her work? She's just like me.

All lined up and ready to be put in the ground. I varied the colors to make it more interesting. (ie: I ran out of stain and didn't feel like going back to Lowes)

I love my roto-tiller; best $250 investment I've ever made. Shoveling my ground is back breaking after an hour or so. The roto-tiller takes a LOT of arm strength, but I can use the muscles.

After 4 passes *whew!*

I put cement at the ends, so they don't fall over the first big wind.

Leveled the top and sides....

Called it a day after this, cause it was about 102 degrees.

I was out there again on Sunday though...

Layed weed preventive fabric down...

Spread out 3 bags of mulch. Stopped, took a shower and went to Lowes to pick up 3 more bags. (Darn, I always underestimate!)

'White Lady Banks Rose' ~ hoping it climbs all over the trellis type fence

'Italian Cypress' ~ they grow about 40 feet

'Fraser red tip photenia' shrub can tolerate drought and full sun (yes!!)

6 bags of mulch, and 4 bags of white rock later... I put the white rock on top of the mulch to try and deter the neighbors cats from using it as a litter box. It did not work, which makes me just a little mad.

Not bad for a Labor Day weekend!
Even though it's open, I still feel like I have a little more privacy from the neighbor. I like the 'line' there since I'm hating on her cats.
